Handmade Kindness Challenge Week 1

Today,

Jennifer McGuire ink has put across a challenge to share kindness.  You can make a card, or bookmark etc. to make someones day.  And because this is the first week, we are to make that item for a friend or family member.  So, come on and share some kindness with someone:)

Thinking of You Card 2

To make this card, I used Wplus9 “Fresh Cut Containers” with Tim Holtz distress ink pads.  For the sentiment, I used SSS “Thinking of you” stamp set #101429.  For the Gold cardstock, I used E-Press it Cardstock and around the edges, I used Versamark to coat the edges about 3/4” and took Perfect Pearls and dusted on Perfect Gold to the edge.  The card size is “4.25X5.5”.

I do believe that this card deserves a trip to WV to surprise my sister:)

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge

Karen's card

Hello all,

Happy Friday to you!    May you all craft to your hearts delight:)

Today I made my sister in law a card for her birthday.  I made it for the challenge also by using the color inspirations and her birthday is so close to Halloween, that it just all came together nicely.  I still feel that I could’ve done more to the front, but it is eluding me just what I can put on there.

I used the Crazy Birds stamp set, Crazy Things stamp set and Crazy Birds die set. For paper, I used SSS Black cardstock and Neenah White cardstock and 65lb cream Neenah from Target.  For inks, I used Tim Holtz distress inks in Seedless Preserves, Soot, Spiced Marmalade and straw.

I really had a fun time with this card and I hope you all find time to create this weekend:)

Fall Blessings Journal page

Fall Blessings_edited-1

Hello all and welcome to my blog!

I just finished a journaling page in my book that was inspired from a page Vicky Papaioannou did last year I think.  After stamping the titles and directions two time, I just gave up LOL!  I wish I could’ve stuck a Scare Crow in the page somewhere.  Also, the leaves on page two are REAL LEAVES!  I know!  Get out right?

I used Dyan Reaveley’s Art Journal BookSimon Says Stamp Card Stock 100# KHAKI and Dyan Reaveley’s Stamp Etoile.  For the background, Prima Flowers CLEAR GESSO 8.5 OZ., Distress Paints in the colors Tarnished Brass, Tea Dye and Vintage Photo.

As I am writing this post, I’m trying to think of ways of improving my blog.  If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated:).

Good luck everyone in the challenge!

Birthday Card

Hello,

Today is my grandbaby’s 2nd birthday!  I’m so proud of him!  He has come so far.    He was diagnosed with a severe brain disorder and the Dr’s didn’t think he’d survive pregnancy, birth, or his first night in the hospital.  Well, he proved them all wrong.  He is our little fighter.

Here is the card I made him.  I found it on Pinterest and made some changes to it.  I added his name, added the “2” and used a different ribbon.  It is 5.5 X 4.25.Vinny's Birthday Card

Bible Tabs

Hello All,

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while.  I have been doing things lately with my art, but just not journaling about it.  Sad?  I know right?

I don’t remember exactly where I found the document for these bible tabs.  I belong to several blogs about Bible Art Journaling and I think one of the ladies posted the document in a group.

Now, what I did was, get Moulin Du Roy cold pressed water color paper.  I cut it down to fit in my printer then I watercolored and added a little extra water then sprinkled large sea salt crystals on top to absorb the extra water.  I let the paper dry then downloaded the document and printed it out on my printer. Voila!

As you can see, I tried to run straight columns of the books, but they’re a little off.  That’s ok with me because I’m a little “off” too 🙂Bible Tabs

Well, I hope you all have a wonderful blessed day.

Journaling

I don’t know if anyone is even reading my blog, but I’ll let you know what I’ve been up to….

I recently found Bible Journaling!  Boy am I behind the times LOL.  It seems that when something new comes up, I’m the last to get on the bandwagon….  So, I’m doing art and journaling in two different books now and one of my bibles.  I find that it really helps with remembering scripture and makes me more hungry for God’s word.  I’ve felt for the past few days to read Ester and so I dove right in this morning.  I think my word for that book is “obedience”.  I really need to work on that one for the Lord and for my husband.  My poor hubby keeps telling me to stop spending so much money on crafting supplies because of our finances and I keep spending……huge sigh…..  I mean, what is a girl to do!  I really don’t need supplies, but I WANT them!  I applied for SSDI and I sure wish it would hurry up and get approved!!!!  That would help us out tremendously.  Not that I’m trying to tell you all my sob story….

Took my son’s girlfriend to The Art Institute and boy is that place amazing!  I would love to go to school there for their Graphic Design program and the Photography program!!!!  But, lets get a grip OK?  I’m 49 freakin’ years old!!!  I’d go to school for 2-4 years with kids just out of High School to get a job!  Good grief….

Be Still

I did this one for listening for the Lord.  I like my art work, but I don’t care for my journaling.  I know this is what a lot of people don’t like; their own handwriting.  I’m no different LOL.

Blessed are..

I love love love this page!  My favorite scriptures are the Beatitudes and my favorite verse is Matt 5:8  Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God

Wait on the Lord

I liked the colors that I used on this one.

You are braver

I did this one this morning!  As I look at it, I realize that I should’ve added some more dimension or texture by adding a stencil or two for the background.  Oh well.  Maybe I’ll remember on my next one!

Until then,                                                                                                                                                           Doodle

Casa Journal Page

Hello friends,

I started this page a couple of days ago and finished it this morning.  I was stumped after putting on the background and the title.  I wanted an Italian feel to my page and knew what I wanted to do, but didn’t feel I could pull it off.  I wanted my theme to be a quaint city; maybe in Florence?  I wanted whoever looked at my page for it to speak to them and hopeing that I captured this beautiful country. Visiting Italy is #1 on my bucket list.  Hopefully one of these days I’ll get there

  •   I used Faber-Castell Gelatos on the background
  •   Faber-Castell Big Brush Markers on building, plants and accents
  •   Black Archival Ink for the Title
  •   White Gel Pen for detail
  •   WPlus9 Fresh Cut Florals Stamp Set for stamping my leaves.

I shop my LSS for my supplies if she carries them.  If not, my other shopping is done at Simon Says Stamp and Blick Art Materials.

Ciao!

Flower Pot Card

Hello friends,

I made this card for my brother who is not doing to well physically.  He lives 8 hours away and I think of him a lot.  We were very close growing up and still are.

I used WPlus9 Fresh Cut Containers Stamp Set, Twine, Broken China Distress Ink, Forest Moss Distress Ink, Distress Markers and a Claudine Hellmuth #2 round brush.

I really enjoyed making this card through the whole process.  I’m a novice water color artist and using the stamps make me feel like an expert LOL!  WPlus9 has quite a few of these stamps for a water color effect.

*Disclaimer:  I do not get anything for recommending these products or sites.  These are just products and companies that I love and have had great success with.  When I can’t find product at my local scrapbook store, I’ll head on over to Simon Says Stamp first because of their great customer service and the timely manner in which you recieve your goodies.  If they are both sold out, I’ll shop Amazon.

Hello my friends,

Here is my impression of Tim Holtz’ 12 Tags!  This month is a coffee container.  I don’t have the Sizzix one, so I used the one stamp I had on hand and cut it out by hand.  Mine is from Art Impressions Card Keepers # UM4074 and I wanted it to look my favorite coffee place……where else but Starbucks????  My favorite drink there is a Triple Venti White Chocolate Mocha with 2 Pumps Classic!! Yummy:)

Happy crafting everyone!
